Last week, I had the pleasure of attending the British Airways Showcase 2026, hosted by Lime and Aviate at the Concorde Conference Centre at Manchester Airport.
With Concorde providing an impressive backdrop, it was a great opportunity to catch up with industry partners, hear about the latest developments from British Airways and, importantly, consider what they mean for our clients at Your Travel Corporate (YTC).
As we continue to build on our strengthened strategic partnership with British Airways, events like this are about much more than networking. They’re about gaining valuable insights that help us deliver better travel solutions for our clients.
GETTING MORE VALUE FROM BUSINESS TRAVEL
One of the key themes from the event was the importance of understanding the products and benefits available to corporate travellers.
British Airways’ evolving ‘On Business’ programme, for example, now places greater emphasis on earning points, with eligible travel management company fares also qualifying.
For businesses regularly travelling with British Airways, this creates opportunities to make more of their travel spend.
We also heard more about the airline’s Select, Select Pro and Flex fare options, reinforcing something we regularly discuss with clients: the cheapest fare isn’t always the best value.
Understanding flexibility, cancellation conditions and the individual needs of a traveller is essential to making the right booking decisions.
For me, this is where an experienced travel management company (TMC) really adds value. It’s not simply about booking flights; it’s about helping clients make informed decisions that work for their business.
EXCITING DEVELOPMENTS FOR BUSINESS TRAVELLERS
There were also some encouraging updates about British Airways’ continued investment in its passenger experience.
The planned refurbishment of the Airbus A380 fleet was a particular highlight, with new seating across all cabins, including an expanded Club Suite offering and improvements to First, premium economy and economy.
Another interesting development is the rollout of Starlink Wi-Fi, offering complimentary connectivity to eligible frequent flyer members, subject to aircraft availability.
For business travellers, being able to stay connected, work productively and arrive at their destination refreshed can make a real difference.
We also heard about planned improvements to Heathrow’s premium check-in and lounge facilities, alongside developments to British Airways’ global network.
New and expanded services, including Melbourne via Kuala Lumpur and increased frequencies to destinations such as Cape Town and Las Vegas, provide further opportunities for businesses travelling internationally.
TURNING INDUSTRY KNOWLEDGE INTO BETTER CLIENT SERVICE
One thing the showcase reinforced for me is that, despite the continued advances in technology, corporate travel remains very much about people.
At YTC, we combine innovative booking technology with experienced, personal support. But equally important are the relationships we maintain with our partners, suppliers and clients.
Working closely with British Airways and Lime helps us stay informed, understand new opportunities and ensure our clients benefit from the latest developments.
There’s little value in attending an industry event and hearing about exciting changes if we don’t bring that knowledge back into the business.
For me, the real benefit comes from turning what we’ve learned into better conversations, better advice and ultimately a better service for our clients.
LOOKING AHEAD
Our strengthened partnership with British Airways remains an important part of YTC’s commitment to delivering competitive, flexible and reliable corporate travel solutions.
I’d like to thank Lime, Aviate and British Airways for organising such an informative and enjoyable event.
And I have to say, discussing the future of aviation with Concorde as the backdrop is a pretty good reminder of just how far our industry has come, and how much more there is to look forward to.
