UK Introduces Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) from April 2025

UK Travel Update
News & views across travel

From April 2025, travellers to the UK will need to be aware of a significant new requirement. The UK government is rolling out an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) scheme, which will impact many visitors entering the country.

What is an ETA?

An Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) is a digital permission to travel. If you are not a UK or Irish national, you may be required to obtain an ETA before entering the UK.

Who Needs an FTA?

From 2nd April 2025, all visitors who are not UK or Irish nationals must apply for an ETA before travelling to the UK.

Key Details You Need To Know

· Cost: An ETA will cost £10 per applicant.

· Validity: It will be valid for two years or until your passport expires, whichever comes first.

· Multiple Entries: An ETA allows multiple visits to the UK during its validity period.

· How to Apply: The application process is online-only. You must apply in advance and ensure you have the correct documentation.

What Happens If You Don’t Have an ETA?

If you arrive at the airport or port without a valid ETA, you may be denied boarding and unable to travel to the UK.

Plan Ahead

If you or your team frequently travel to the UK, we recommend applying in advance to avoid any disruptions to your plans.
