For Ellie, the journey into travel with Your Travel Corporate (YTC) wasn’t a straight line - it was a path through the world of insurance which ultimately led her somewhere far more personal: and to an industry she genuinely loves.
Entering The World Of Business Travel
Ellie had always worked in insurance, building strong experience in client management and developing a sharp eye for detail along the way. Each role taught her something new, but over time, Ellie realised she wanted more than just steady progression – she wanted a career with passion.
After spending time exploring regions like the Balkans and Asia, Ellie fell in love with the experience of discovering new places. One of her favourite rituals? Watching the sunset on her final day in each country – a symbolic way to “close out” each destination.
Naturally organised and people-focused, stepping into a Travel Expert role at YTC felt like the perfect fit.
What Does a Typical Day Look Like For A YTC Travel Expert?
If there’s one thing Ellie’s learned, it’s that no two days are the same.
- Fast paced and busy: The role is a dynamic mix of multitasking, client management and operating various platforms – all while having to develop new skills, review information and refine processes.
- Strategic thinking: Ellie enjoys seeing the bigger picture and being able to understand not just individual bookings, but how every client journey connects within their business.
- Responsibility and Development: Ellie has also had the chance to get involved in new projects, from developing systems to supporting data organisation. It’s been especially rewarding to see her own skills recognised and valued across the team.
Ellie’s Highlights
For Ellie, it’s often the little things that stand out.
Thoughtful touches like being provided with a desk hand-warmer for chilly mornings – to exciting team plans, there’s always something to look forward to. The upcoming team trip to climb Mount Snowden should certainly be interesting!
Her initial four weeks of training involved a lot of new information but were incredibly valuable and rewarding. Delivered by senior YTC leadership, the programme gave Ellie a strong foundation and demonstrated just how much YTC invests in its people.
That investment goes both ways – equipping Ellie with the tools to succeed while strengthening the entire YTC team.
A Close-Knit Culture
One of the things Ellie appreciates most is the company culture.
She describes it as a small, welcoming family – supportive, communicative, and genuinely connected. Being part of a tight-knit travel expert team means she’s able to collaborate easily across all YTC departments and build strong relationships quickly.
Life Outside of Work for a Travel Expert
When Ellie is not helping clients plan their next corporate travel trip, Ellie is usually outdoors.
She loves walking, running, and staying active in the gym, anything that keeps her moving. Weekends often include time with family too, especially her niece, who she loves watching grow up.
What Ellie Has Learned Along the Way
Ellie has been surprised by how much there is to learn at YTC behind the scenes. From understanding how trips are sourced and booked to seeing the mechanics of the business travel industry in action, she’s gained a whole new perspective on what goes into creating YTC’s seamless customer experiences.
One thing that’s really stood out is the level of customer care delivered on a consistent basis. The standard set by the team has reshaped Ellie’s expectations – highlighting just how much thought and effort goes into every client interaction and every trip which is booked – and every aspect of it!
Looking Ahead To The Future At YTC
For Ellie, this role is more than just a career change – it’s a step into something she truly enjoys.
With new skills, exciting projects, and a supportive team around her, she’s building a future in travel that feels both rewarding and full of possibility.
Why This Matters
