At YTC, we believe that meaningful action speaks louder than words.
Our commitment to corporate responsibility is rooted in authenticity, and this extends far beyond our clients and our colleagues. We recognise the value of contributing to a better world, and our Charitable Strategy is a key part of how we put our ‘We Care’ ethos into action.
RECOGNISING THE IMPACT OF CHARITIES
Charities play an extraordinary role across a vast range of sectors, from healthcare and social support, to education, conservation and beyond. Yet despite the vital services they provide, only a small proportion of charitable funding is covered by government support. Many organisations rely solely on public donations and the efforts of volunteers to keep their work going.
At YTC, we recognise this imbalance. We are proud to stand alongside charities that do so much with so little, and to use our resources to help amplify their impact.
A CHARITABLE STRATEGY WITH PURPOSE
In alignment with our sustainability goals, we take a considered approach to charitable giving. We prioritise organisations that:
- Serve local or national communities, particularly those near our own operations
- Champion environmental restoration and biodiversity, including efforts to rewild, conserve, or protect the natural world
By directing support towards causes that reflect both our values and the nature of our industry, we aim to help reverse environmental impacts and contribute to a more resilient future.
STAFF VOICE AND ANNUAL CHARITY SELECTION
We believe the people within our business should shape our charitable strategy. Each December, all employees will be invited to vote for one charity from a carefully curated shortlist of worthwhile causes. The charity with the most votes will become YTC’s Charity of the Year, receiving donations during the financial year (1st April to 31st March) that follows.
This process ensures that our giving remains collaborative, democratic, and closely aligned with the passions of our team.
OUR FIRST CHARITY OF THE YEAR: BRITISH BEE CHARITY
To launch our Charitable Strategy in 2025, we are proud to introduce the British Bee Charity as our first ever Charity of the Year. This fantastic not-for-profit organisation, run entirely by volunteers, is dedicated to raising awareness and educating the public on the plight of bees, a species that plays a vital role in our ecosystem.
YTC will support the British Bee Charity with regular monthly donations throughout the 2025/2026 financial year. Specifically, our contributions will go towards the Beebombs4Schools project. This initiative provides clay seed pellets, filled with bee-friendly wildflower seeds, to schools across the UK. Each pack includes educational materials for teachers, enabling children to scatter their bee bombs, observe the wildflowers as they grow, and study the bees they attract.
We are proud to contribute to a project that not only fosters environmental education, but also actively encourages biodiversity and the rewilding of green spaces. It is a cause that reflects YTC’s sustainability values, supporting education, environmental restoration and a thriving national community.

SUPPORTING WITH TIME, NOT JUST MONEY
While monetary donations are essential in enabling charities to operate, we know that transformational change is built through experience, education and active involvement.
Every employee is entitled to two fully paid volunteer days per year, as part of our benefits package. These can be used for fundraising events, hands-on volunteering, or awareness campaigns. We simply ask that:
- We dedicate one of these two days to supporting YTC’s Charity of the Year
- Employees may use one day to support any other registered charity that is personally meaningful to them
TEAM-LED CHARITABLE MOMENTS
In addition to structured support, we also embrace spontaneity. Each year, YTC will aim to organise at least one team-wide charitable initiative. That could be a community clean-up, a local volunteering opportunity, or a group fundraising challenge. We host these ad hoc events to bring us together as a team, united in support of causes that matter.
TRANSPARENCY AND ACCOUNTABILITY
We’re implementing a charitable strategy because we mean it. Our ‘We Care’ philosophy is more than a slogan, it underpins how we operate, and it applies to our entire ecosystem, not just our clients and colleagues. We want to be one of the few businesses that can genuinely demonstrate its values in action.
As part of this promise, we commit to full transparency. Every year, we will:
- Share updates and photos of our charitable initiatives across our social media channels and our website blog
- Publish a year-end summary report, detailing all charitable activity, downloadable via our website alongside our other sustainability reports
Through consistent, transparent reporting, we aim to showcase the real-world impact of our strategy and hold ourselves accountable to the promises we make.
