From his first chat with one of our directors to creating his own tailor-made role, Jay’s journey into YTC wasn’t exactly textbook, but it was definitely meant to be.
FROM ESTATE AGENT TO OPPORTUNITY ARCHITECT
For Jay, finding his way to YTC felt like fate. Having spent time leading teams in estate agency, Jay was ready for a new chapter. A chance conversation with Sam, one of YTC’s directors, is where things really took off. Initially chatting about a different role, Sam realised Jay’s experience in taking clients through a process as well as his energy and personality is something YTC needed – which sparked a rethink… and a leading role in our fast-evolving Client Success department was born.
Since then, it’s been a journey of learning, laughter, and a little bit of LinkedIn mastery.

A Typical Day? Not Quite.
A day as a sales development rep in the Client Success department is anything but standard. You’ll be dipping into a mix of:
- 📞 LOTS of direct telephone conversations with prospective clients
- 💻 Staying on top of travel industry news, shifts in compliance needs and global travel regulations.
- 🧭 Navigating the CRM like a pro (or at least a determined learner!)
- 💻 Putting LinkedIn Sales Navigator to full use
- 🤝 Occasional out and abouts at various industry events and prospective client meetings
- 📚 Continuous learning through 1:1s, coaching, and giving input directly into management meetings
Collaboration is key. Whether it’s with our sales team to drive strategic initiatives or with marketing to generate quality inbound leads. A role in this department touches nearly every corner of the business, and Jay wouldn’t have it any other way.
Highlights That Matter
One recent standout moment? Supporting a new client through the entire onboarding journey. From that initial conversation through to first demo and then a confident handover to the business travel experts, that received amazing client feedback – Jay proves that stepping outside your comfort zone can be the best way to grow.
And that’s just one example. Business development here isn’t just about bashing out calls (although there is a lot of that!). It’s consultative, dynamic, deeply personable and profoundly rewarding.

Culture Vibes
Ask Jay about the culture and you’ll get a grin. It’s a perfect blend: hard work, genuine relationships, the odd cheeky bit of banter, and some pretty decent perks (ask him about the massages but don’t expect productivity straight after!). At YTC, you’re supported to grow, celebrated for your individuality, and encouraged to bring your full self to work, quirks, character and all.
Outside Office Hours
When he’s not closing deals or crafting clever outreach messages, you’ll find Jay in National Trust mode, think Chartwell, Scotney Castle, or Ightham Mote. Partner, kids, food and a glass of something nice sums up Jay’s ideal weekend.
Why This Matters
Both Jay and Rich represent two sides of the same YTC coin: people who care deeply, work collaboratively, and genuinely enjoy what they do.
These aren’t just jobs, they’re careers built around people, purpose, and progress.
So, if you’re thinking about joining YTC, we hope you’ll see yourself in their stories. Ambitious? Driven? Whether you’re a bit of a foodie or a National Trust explorer on the weekends – You’ll fit right in.
