FROM APPRENTICE TO HIGH-FLYING TRAVEL PRO
Holly’s love for travel started straight out of school. Having always wanted to work in the travel sector, Holly enrolled in a leisure and travel apprenticeship and graduated with a double distinction – an early sign of her incredible skill and determination!
After spending time in the leisure travel industry, Holly felt she needed a greater challenge and wanted to take on more responsibility. This ‘path of destiny’ led her to YTC, where she’s been busy building a career she’s truly passionate about.
What Does a Typical Day in the YTC Travel Expert Team Look Like?
It’s certainly not quiet and not just because of Holly’s playlist!
- Constant communication, responding promptly to clients and tackling urgent travel requests.
- Assisting EAs and PAs, who are often supporting C-suite executives with their travel plans. So you’ll find Holly frequently switching between emails, Teams, WhatsApp and client calls.
- Securing the best fares, tailoring routes to tight schedules, or advising on the latest travel news for smooth connections.
- It’s more than just booking a ticket or a hotel room – it’s working as part of the travel expert team collectively in delivering stress-free travel for clients.
There’s a strong sense of collaboration with the team, with everyone ready to support each other while being hard-working a good humoured.
Holly’s Highlights
Some standout moments and lessons learned so far include…
- In person meetings with clients: As strong as the relationships built over the phone and online can be, sometimes nothing beats a personal interaction with clients. This is where Holly can really go into great depth on how travel bookers can utilise our online booking tool while receiving affirmative feedback for her excellent service which can be such a tremendous boost!
- New skills: Holly’s role at YTC has been an incredible learning curve. She’s become hugely skilled with GDS and additional booking systems which speed up workflows and better serve clients.
- Building genuine rapports with EAs and PAs: Creating meaningful relationships allows Holly to fully understand the individual wishes of each business which is crucial in providing a seamless travel service. Picking up the travel industry knowledge too, from the jargon of luxury business travel to how airlines market themselves differently across cultures has also been incredibly useful.
Each of these highlights demonstrates the enthusiasm Holly brings to YTC! Along with how a personal touch can make all the difference on a day-to-day basis in business travel.

Holly After Hours
Outside of work, Holly is all about a good balance and fun activities with friends and family, including plenty of mini golf! She’s a self-confessed social butterfly who loves going out for meals – Chinese food is the ultimate favourite – although often a good tuna pasta bake at home will do the trick.
