Q: Dan, can you tell us a little about your background in the travel industry?
A: Having worked in the travel industry for almost six years, I’ve gained a wealth of knowledge that enables me to efficiently book even the most complex itineraries. My role requires a lot of problem-solving and initiative to find the best routes and prices for each trip. Account management is a key part of the job, and being able to juggle multiple tasks, especially during busy periods, is essential.
Q: What do you enjoy most about working at YTC?
A: Every day is different! Each client has unique needs, and that constantly challenges me to deliver the best service possible. I firmly believe that strong client relationships make everything run more smoothly. The work culture at YTC is fantastic—professional yet friendly—which makes all the difference.
Q: How would you describe the team dynamic at YTC?
A: We are a close-knit team, always ready to step up and support each other. The collaboration between departments is noticeable and having approachable directors makes a huge difference. Knowing that you can turn to leadership for guidance or support is incredibly reassuring.
Q: You mentioned you had time off early in your career at YTC. How was that experience?
A: Yes, at the beginning of my time at YTC, I had a significant amount of time off for personal reasons. But the support I received was second to none. Despite the initial challenges, I was able to integrate seamlessly back into the team, and now I feel like a key member of the company.
Q: How has your professional development grown since joining YTC?
A: My confidence in taking on new challenges has skyrocketed—especially when it comes to GDS-related tasks. I’ve learned to use a whole new system, and expanded my knowledge of advanced booking processes. The continuous learning opportunities here have been instrumental in my growth.
Q: How does YTC compare to other companies you’ve worked for?
A: I feel more welcomed here than at many of my previous workplaces. YTC has a culture where everyone is valued and supported. That being said, while anyone would feel welcome, you do need the right skillset to thrive in this fast-paced environment.
Q: How do you find the work-life balance?
A: The job can be quite full-on day-to-day, but the company celebrations a few times a year really help us unwind. These events are a fantastic way to relax and let off steam, and the best part is that work isn’t even a topic of discussion! It’s just about enjoying time with colleagues.
Q: Any final thoughts on working at YTC?
